Over time, as Spawn gained more autonomy from Malebolgia, the usage of these claws became less about serving Hell's army and more about protecting his loved ones, symbolizing the weaponization of a soul trapped between worlds.

In Their Own Story

The alleyway smelled of rain and rusted iron. Shadows stretched long against the brickwork as three Wraiths circled him. Spawn didn't reach for his chains this time. He clenched his fists, the air around his hands crackling with green static. With a sharp exhale, black spikes erupted from his knuckles, elongating into razor-sharp talons. The first demon lunged; Spawn met it mid-air, driving the claws through its chest plate as if it were paper. He spun, the necroplasmic blades carving arcs of light in the darkness before retracting back into his armored gauntlets.

The Demon Claws function as an extension of the Hellspawn's will rather than a physical object that can be dropped or lost. To activate them, the user must focus their necroplasmic energy toward their hands.
