Chains of Command
Forged in damnation, they bind the soul to serve while striking down enemies.
The Chains of Command represent the physical manifestation of Al Simmons' eternal contract with Hell, serving as both a weapon and an unbreakable shackle. Forged from necroplasmic energy within the depths of Malebolgia's domain, these chains bind the Hellspawn to his master's will while granting him formidable combat abilities on Earth.

Lore & Background
Throughout the long history of the Hellspawn, the chains have been a source of immense pain and power. They drain life force from those they touch who are not necroplasmically enhanced. When Spawn acts against Hell's interests, the chains burn him, reminding him of his subservient status. Despite this torment, Spawn has learned to manipulate them into various forms, turning his prison into a tool for justice and vengeance.
In Their Own Story
The alleyway was silent save for the hiss of steam rising from wet pavement. Spawn stood still, head bowed as the shadows lengthened around him. A sudden heat seared through his chest plate; the chains tightened, constricting his breath with invisible vice-like pressure. It was a reminder from below that time was running out. He clenched his fists, the metal links groaning in response to his rage, before he let out a low growl and stepped back into the darkness.
Reader's Guide
The Chains of Command appear as thick, blackened metal links often shrouded in green or red necroplasmic smoke. They are intangible until summoned by Spawn's will, allowing him to pass through them when necessary or solidify them for combat.
Mechanically, they function as a conduit for Hellfire energy. They can extend indefinitely to grapple enemies, form blades, or create barriers. However, they cannot be permanently removed by mortal means; cutting them only causes them to reform instantly from the necroplasmic aura surrounding Spawn.
Historical significance lies in their role as the primary symbol of Spawn's tragedy. They represent the cost of his resurrection and power. While they grant him strength beyond human limits, they also ensure he remains a pawn in the cosmic war between Heaven and Hell.
