As his knees buckled and the darkness rushed in to claim him, a cold, unseen presence descended from below, whispering promises of power into the void where his soul once rested.

Albert Francis Simmons was born in Detroit as the second child of Bernard and Esther Simmons, a mother noted for her involvement with devil worship. His early life led him to distinguished military service within the U.S. Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel while serving in Force Recon. Transitioning into intelligence work, Simmons joined the Secret Service before being recruited by the CIA. He eventually rose through the ranks to become a high-ranking official and formidable assassin for the U.S. Security Group, an umbrella agency commanded by Director Jason Wynn that integrated the NSA and NSC. However, his growing moral compass during a mission in Botswana clashed with Wynn's directives. Consequently, Wynn secretly hired Simmons' trusted friend and partner, Bruce Stinson, also known as Chapel, to eliminate him. Simmons was burned to death and cast into Hell, setting the stage for his supernatural transformation.
